I had a similar problem, and corrected it by modifying the at initialization
string. Your modem may be set up so the dte port on the modem follows the
connect speed. To take advantage of the speed buffering inherent in modems
that support compression, you must set the dte port on the modem to follow
the dte speed set in your com package. As usual, there is a layer of
fuzziness between modem vendors, so I do not know if my USR string would
help you with whatever modem you use.

Hope this helps.

Subject: 28800 modem

Hi all,

I have a 28800 modem and I cannot get Linux to use it at 28800. I have to
set it for 19200. I have tried both ppp and minicom.
Any ideas?
