My Tripplite OmniSmart UPSes (we have two) both work with Linux using
the provided cable. Their client also allows you to plug several systems
into one UPS and have them all notified of a power outage via the network
from a server running on the machine physically connected to the UPS's
serial port via cable.
Furhter, their software is open source!
