Ditto. I think the boxed samba with 6.2 had some issues with NT's version
of LANman (the hash function for encryption). The update supposedly
addressed that.

What do you mean by the "third one"?
When asking questions about Samba, it is always useful to send your
/etc/samba.conf file to the list.
The directory /usr/doc/samba-version/docs also contains a lot of information
that probably will help to solve your probleml.
