Correctamundo!
After upgrading to the new and improved up2date (which was after satisfying
a s**tload of other updates mind you), it allowed me to go on anonymously
with 'up2date --register'. It created a gpg key wich I had to update to my
database, then it worked flawlessly. Even the 'up2date-gnome' worked very
nicely thank you. Mind you, I have NO idea how long you're supposed to be
able to use it anonymously. But as someone mentioned before, $100/6mo (I
assume US?) is WAY too much to pay for us aussies! We use linux because
we're on a tight budget ya know?
Anyway, just for anyone else who wants to 'give it another go'.
need: up2date v2.1.7
set the server to ftp.redhat.com. If necessary also set the proxy to
ftp.redhat.com.
run 'up2date --register'
read the blurb and do it.
Worked for me (finally). Hope this helps someone.
