You might want to look at installing mgetty+sendfax.  I did it, and I was
rather impressed with the results.  it supports normal (terminal) logins,
or PPP logins with PAP.  The documentation is also very well done.  I had
my entire system running (reciving terminal logins, ppp /w PAP, and
reciving faxes) set up in about 3 hours.  And most of that was because I
was trying to find where the files sited in the docs were on my system (I
used an rpm to install).
