I'm having a few problems with my packard bell sound. I can only get
connected at 9600. After noticing this problem in the messages log, I
checked out the manual. I can get on reliably at 28.8/31.2 in NT on
this same system, so I know it's not the modem. I'm using redhat 4.1
with kernel 2.0.34 and pppd 2.2.4. The modem is call the Packard Bell
Sound II 33.6, the manual I am consulting is for the 28.8 version since
that's what my computer came with. The command string I'm using
currently is:
~^M~AT S7=45 S0=0 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0^M
The command to enter my modem into v.34 mode is apparently (from the
manual) +MS=11 and to get it in 28.8 mode is +MS=z. I've tried the
following string with no success:
~^M~AT SY=45 S0=0 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0 +MS=11 +MS=z^M
I even tried it with +MS=x instead of z, since this was the autodetect
mode without sucess. I've gone into minicom -s and checked out the
settings, tinkered with things like switching autodetect baud rate onto
"Yes" and the such, without success. If anyone can can think of the
possible cause of this problem, or uses the PB Sound in linux I'd
appreciate the help.
