I'm having a great deal of problem with setting up my SLIP connection. I
have tried using dip and managed to connect to my University's site but
can't do anything else once the connection is established. I can't ping,
ftp, or surf the net. In Windows 95, in the TCP/IP section, all I have to
do is type in the DNS server of my Uni. I've read the
SLIP/PPP Emulator HOWTO guide and recompiled my kernel so
that it supports TCP and SLIP but that didn't fix the problem.
Below is what I have in the configuration files in /etc
so hope you can help me with pin pointing where the problem is coming from
(I followed the guide mentioned above)
# file /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.0.2.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
"XXX.XX.XX.XX" "remotehostname.domain.name remotehostname"
# file /etc/host.conf
order hosts, bind
multi on
#file /etc/resolv.conf
domain localdomain
nameserver "XXX.XX.XX.XX"
Please help as I've tried to set it up during the past two days without
any luck. Thanks in advance.!
Anthony.
P/S My modem is Banksia 33.6 internal PnP.
