I don't know if these are causing your problem, but they are incorrect &
probably worth fixing...

You haven't said how far you are getting with your connection. If you can
log in and ping using an IP address, but you can't ping using a domain
name, then chances are you have a domain name resolution problem, and the
fixes below may help there. If you cannot log on, or you can log on but
cannot ping even using an IP address, then your problem likely lies
elsewhere.

First, in HOSTS the quotes are not needed. Second, your remote host should
not be in HOSTS. You should be able to resolve its domain name with DNS
once you are up and running. Also, the remote host's IP address may change
from time to time.

Again, I don't think you need the quotes.
