Nothing at all. Not an iota. This isn't football, or even basketball. I don't think there is a concept of "emotional momentum" in baseball. Frankly, who cares if the crowd is in the game? Nobody has shown that being cheered for changes ones ability to pitch, hit, throw, or catch. Basketball, hockey, and football teams, on the other hand, benefit greatly from fan support. That is because these games depend on hustle from second-to-second. If you are 1/2 second faster and get to a loose ball, you can get some extra points. If you run hard down the court and play defense you'll make a tangible difference. Same in football. Frankly, I can't think of anything more demoralizing than to be losing a game in front of no people, and still have to go out and get pummeled by large men. At that point, I'd just be trying to avoid injury. I feel bad for all the Detroit Lions players. So, while the Rays may whine a bit, they will play just as hard and as well.
