My concerns with this team lie less with Theo's decisions about
offense v. defense, and more towards the thinness of the talent.

As the Patriots have proven, all teams have injuries and need to be
built with that in mind. That said, I don't see any depth to the Sox.
Once you break through the thin crust of talent, you are immediately
thrust into an assortment of kids out of Pawtucket.

In the past, the Sox backup players would have been starters on lesser
teams. Dave Roberts-esque sort of guys. Now we have Hall, McDonald,
and Van Every (who might be OK). Lowell makes me nervous as a backup
plan for an injury to Beltre or Youk. Varitek seems to have landed
well in a spot starter role, but he'd be a terrible starter. And who
backs up Scutaro/Pedroia?
