Greinke questioned the direction of the franchise when he told the Kansas City Star, in response to a question about the Royals’ top prospects, “There’s no reason for me to get real excited about it, because the chances of more than one of them making a major impact by the time my contract is up is pretty slim.’’ Greinke has two years remaining on his deal.
