I'm kind of shocked that they got Crawford ... shocked, but happy. Giving him $20 million a year for seven years makes a heck of a lot more sense than giving that deal to a 32-year-old pitcher, or giving $18 million a year to Jayson Werth. Crawford basically got a Manny contract (at the same age) but for one fewer year. He should be able to hold his value pretty well. I thought after Werth he was going to get 8 years at $23 million per or so.
Who would have ever thought the Sox would have the two best basestealers in the league on the roster at the same time? Now the defense looks great, offense has power, speed and OBP. We'll probably see a lot of lefthanded pitching this year, but still ... Sign a couple of competent bullpen arms and we're looking at the first 110 win season in franchise history.
