And he took him from the Rays. Weakened a division opponent at the same
time.

And the best defensive left fielder in the game ...

Dude, The guy is a 4 time all-star. He's 29 and in his prime. Last
year he had a .356 OBP, 19 HRs, 90 RBI and stole 47 bases! And he did
all this in the AL East. Crawford does it all and adds a new dimension
to our offense. Be happy.

Holy sh*t, this was surprising when I logged on to boston.com
this am! Unlike some others, I am not a huge Crawford fan, I
would have preferred Werth (but not for 7 years, $126 million).
And I am really amazed that the Sox took on 2 long-term, big money
contracts this off-season. Really surprised. And a little
concerned as, has been noted, much of Crawford's game revolves around
speed, so what is that going to look like when he's 35? And I
wonder if that means that Ellsbury would be on the trading block,
        and for whom?

But I am certainly going to enjoy it over the next few years!
And I can only imagine if the Sox starting rotation pitches to their
        abilities next year....

        Red Sox to sign Crawford
<http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/12

A Major League source had told the Globe the deal is for seven
years and $142 million.

        More to come.
