not
the good ones.

Glen,
You might want to consider having the tank
drilled and installing some overflows.....maybe its just me but I know if it
were my tank I would want to do it right from the beginning. Something like
drilling overflows is an option that would definately be nice to decide on
before filling it with water. Im sure you could find a professional glass
worker who could drill em, or is it an acrylic tank? even easier
:-)
Ive never used hang-on overflows, are they a pain
with siphon's breaking etc....

Wow! Thanks for
all the replies to my questions about the tank. Really am excited
about getting to do this. First thing I am going to do is order the
ro/di unit and start the clean up. Think the best bet is going
with a complete water change and doing what you all suggested with the
live rock cleaning, etc. The tank is not drilled so I assume I
will have to use one or two hang on overflows. Any suggestions?
And the pump (pumps) for the return. Any suggestions?
Am going to call Ron on Monday and get the skimmer on order.
I have a friend at my LFS who has some advanced or magntek (not
sure) Tar ballasts that he is not using. He has four that will
fire two 4 ft. vhos each (he thinks they will do six footers too)
Think I will go ahead and look at 8 four foot vhos (four daylight
and four 03) and have t! he 03's come on and the daylights come on later
on timers. I like the blue only look in the morning and evening.
If we ever want to add some corals I think with a couple MH
pendants added to this we would be in good shape. The lights,
Ron's skimmer, ro/di unit, water change, cleaning, will be a good start
and get us going I think. Not sure what I want to do about the
substrate. Like the look of the sugar sized sand but need some
suggestions here. I would assume that some live sand with 50 or
100 lbs. of fresh rock would be a good idea too. Thanks again for
all the suggestions and I will keep this list informed on my progress
and add some pics to my web page of what it looks like now. Might
be easier for you guys to help me if you can see what I am up against.
Thanks Glen
