take a cup of tank water, and smell it. If it smells then there lies your
problem.

Where is your skimmer? The crud that the skimmer
produces (waste?) can smell rather nasty...
Could that be it?

.........dead fish.
I setup my first reef tank on October of last year, and in the past month we
detect a smell like a dead fish. We suposed the drain was the cause, but now
we think is the tank.
Are this situation normal? All the tanks smell a little like fish? what can
be wrong?
TIA.
