you referred to distributed loads while i was considering point loads. the
worst case scenario in these calculations is whether the floor joist can
support the point load (ie, the weight of the tank).
although it IS distributed over a small area, if a standard joist can
support the load assuming reasonable bending moments, then we know the floor
can support the distributed load.
