Hi, Tom. Thanks for the Email. I like Iwasaki 6500Ks on tuned IC ballasts. I
am in the process of changing all MH ballast to E-ballasts. My reasoning for
this is really that IC has no 400watt electronic ballast that will power any
bulb well without being tuned. I must have the ability to change bulbs
whenever I think I need to without sending my ballast in for tuning. I am
running 45 gallon breeder tanks with single 400watt MH. I will change bulbs
in these tanks sometimes depending on what I am growing or holding. I have
one remaining Iwasaki that has a noticeable "warm yellow tint" that is being
evaluated against 10KK Ushio. I am also evaluating 10KK+ Blueline. I am also
using 440watts of VHO over another tank. I will compare from an experience
base which lighting system does best in terms of ballast reliability and
economy, bulb life, bulb effectiveness, and last but not least appearance. I
have found PAR ratings very unreliable and cannot for the life of me
understand why people insist on lighting with red, orange, and yellow spectra
for SPS. I'll post my findings on this site for those who are interested. My
only regret is that I have not included a 20KK bulb or PC in this little
