I used to use a distiller a long time ago, but it just took way too long to
produce water (1 gallon every 6 or 8 hours) In my opinion, a distiller is
the way to go as long as it can produce water quick enough for you. They do
not use filters etc, so they are cheap to operate, and they produce very
pure water. However, the big units are very expensive and even harder to
find. I have since switched to a 80 gpd RO/DI unit. FWIW
