The PCs are supposed to be a much more efficient bulb. Thus, they are
brighter. A PC can provide much more light in a smaller package. If hood
size is a limiting factor, and you plan on keeping light loving animals,
then PCs are a viable option. I would rate them on the same level as VHO. If
you are going to be keeping corals that need a decent amount of light, and
you cant fit enough normal output (NO) bulbs under the hood, go with the
PCs. Also, remember, you can add one or two PCs and get the same amount of
light as you do out of 2,3 or 4 NO bulbs, so your replacement costs are
lower over the long run, especially if you are importing them from the
states.
