Caulerpa is a very good nitrate reducer. It will also reduce the nutrients
in the water thus reducing what your skimmer will pull out. This will also
turn into a refugium for all kinds of organisms which are beneficial to the
aquarium. Caulerpa will also add some O2 which too is good. How big is
your main tank?
Craig
hello, Im planning to install a 10 gal tank below my "big" tank, connected
via my sump to the main tank water. This little tank is supposed to be
filled with caulerpa and provided with good light its supposed to be a
natural nitrate filter.
Do you think this will work ok?
And what kind of substrate do you recommend me?
Im planning about using fine crushed coral, about 1 1/2 inch deep substrate
(or should it be deeper?).
Thanks for all your opinions.
Marco
