Marco,
The fire clams you are speaking of are actually a different species (scallop
if I remember correctly??). They do not do well in reef tanks. They come
from cooler waters, and live in high sediment, murky zones. They are HEAVY
filter feeders, thus need a constant food supply from your water column,
which means food overload on your tank. Not only that, they tend to "blow"
themselves all over the tank, and usually jam themselves under a rock in
your reef that you cant get them out from under, where they die even more
quickly. Dont get one, and tell your LFS shame on them (if they are carrying
them).
