I think is what he was thinking of was a plenum. Same concept, but a
different type of set up. In a plenum, screen is neccesary. Good explanation
of a DSB set up. Chris's suggestions of adding sand and water in stages were
solid as well. 

Andrew, do you know what grain size (number) DSB sands should be between?
