Be careful.  Don't ever trust a check valve completely!  I learned the hard way!  They can and will fail!  If you use one, make sure to get one that does not contain any metal springs or other parts.  Also, make sure you get one that is easily taken apart for cleaning which is needed on a regular basis.  FWIW

You could also install a check valve inline between the output of the pump and the output in the tank.  Rick
