I second the notepad++ recommendation. I use it when I'm mobile, because my mobile development setup is a thumb drive with apps from portableapps.com on it, and notepad++ is almost exactly the perfect coding text editor. (I'm very used to Kate in KDE, though, which is what I use at home)
