I do regular writing in plaintext myself, no word processors. The
tool I found that makes it all easy is txt2tags, at
http://txt2tags.sourceforge.net/ (iirc, if that link is wrong, a quick
googling will turn up the site).

It's a little python script that takes a text file written in simple
wiki-like markup (very similar to wikipedia markup), processes it, and
can produce html, xhtml, magicpoint slide shows, and LaTeX. Of
course, once you've got it in LaTeX form, you can do almost anything
with it, except make a Word document, but if you're using a text
processor, why would you need Word for anything other than to view
documents people send you? ;)

My website is generated from txt2tags source using a python wrapper I
built that scans and builds.
