Ive heard bad things about godaddy as far as hosting goes and of course yahoo is terriable, from my experience.
The hosts I have been the most happy with is Gartorhost and have had a dedicated server with them for the past year. They will even migrate my site to their server for free. The actual server is through the Planet out of Dallas so Gator host is a reseller but they do have in hosue tech support. I always gauge the hosting mainly based upon the support and they have good IM and email support in addition to their phone. Recently I also got a server with Justhost, they have cheap shared hosting and dedicated hosting options. They do have ads in the Cpanel but for the cost its a deal. See links to these sites below.
