Rob, What's the URL of the site in question? In addition to using a reset style sheet, you might also look at Dean Edward's IE7 or IE8 javascripts: http://code.google.com/p/ie7-js/
These things are priceless for what they eliminate in terms of IE bugs in CSS. Cheers!
