I take strong exception to this message. Regext is a working group that works on standardizing interfaces among registries and registrars. Its members include people with expertise in those topics, many of whom work for registries and registrars. It is not our job to justify our work to occasional visitors. If you actually want to know how registries and registrars work, there are plenty of resources. I'd suggest starting with the contracts on public file at ICANN.
