Can autotools detect a Linux system and automatically enable these switches ?
Also detect Solaris and disable things like the profile.d script ?

Next step is define where to install devel docs. If /usr/share/docs/elektra-devel-VERSION/api-html is not correct, where to install it ?

Same for example scripts and .c files.

Does the build system must be so granular even for examples ?

Here is what I propose:

remove --with-docdir and --with-develdocdir, and replace them with

--with-example-scripts=<path|yes> if set, install scripts;
                                  install them in path if given

--with-api-docs=<path|yes>  if set, install HTML api doc; install
                            it in path if given

--enable-profile-script        install profile script

And I propose to have those 3 false in the default case.

Does that seems right?
