What I propose is disable the installation in the default case and
enables it only with:
--enable-profile-script

It says to follow the FHS, and FHS isn't very precise either:
There is a mention of doc in /usr/share, but it is optional:

   doc  Miscellaneous documentation (optional)

And nothing more (unless I missed something). (/usr/doc is clearly wrong).
How it is split by package, where api doc, or examples should go is
unspecified.

That's also why I think that the docs should only be installed optionally
(with
--with-example-scripts=<path|yes> if set, install scripts;
                                  install them in path if given
--with-api-docs=<path|yes> if set, install HTML api doc; install
                            it in path if given
).

It is even worse for other unix which don't anything like FHS.

In my opinion anything that isn't associated with a ./configure switch
dir should only be optionally installed.
