So you are saying that Howard should have been more "socially active?"  An
early Civil Rights Crusader, perhaps?

Does this judgemental stance on the life and activities of someone who was
largely isolated, home-bound, and dedicated to writing, not seem just a
little bit absurd or even arrogant to you?

Where, exactly, are you going with this?
