vincent d'onofrio was great- and he IS a great actor, but I don't feel he understood at all what a texan was or how one would act 9renee zellweiger, on the other hand IS a texan...)- howard WAS a true texan aware of his heritage and texas history, i don't see Vince's portrayal as accurate, but as an approximation. renne has the authority of being a true texan- as well as the luxury of being able to meet with the resal character she portrays- so I consider her protrayal as dead-on, and i consider the movie to be the story of novalyne- not the story of REH. how can it be the story of REH? it can only be the story of novalyne's encounter with REH. much like stanley's encounter with livingston- it's actually about stanley!
