I will look at doing this, as I'm running 'fink selfupdate' right now
and I think it might take a few days to complete.  Something is now
quite right with my fink setup.

I think I'll start again from scratch with fink.  Something is really
not right.  I'll also try the newest Xcode.  I'll get back to you once
I can replicate the problem.

I stayed away from wxPython 2.9 on the Mac as they shifted from the
GTK+ widget set and use the native Mac widgets.  When I tested it,
when it first came out, it was just a mess.
