My opinion is that the current state of kdebase doesn't allow us to call it a 
beta, i.e. I agree with you.

I have always said so, but then again I usually tend to say "we don't need any 
schedules, we release
when it's ready" and I can see how that doesn't work since without deadlines 
people (including me)
don't get their act together. So I let it happens, the schedules and releases, 
but since you asked:
no, the current kdebase can't be released as a beta.

Oops now this mail is a bit too late; no ADSL since last week, only 
intermittent slow modem...
