I work with the weblion group on Products.FacultyStaffDirectory,
which uses membrane for providing membership functionality. I
personally am responsible for 2 sites which use FSD and thus
membrane, but we estimate that there are at least 50 sites in
production around the world using our product.

FSD uses membrane by itself to provide configurable user and group
functionality for its content types.
