Tim, I would agree with this approach, however, if the corrosion is not to bad, try using emery cloth to clean up the post and wire end terminals. Spray the items with WD-40. Re-assemble them and then use an aerosol battery terminal spray or brush on a waterproof type grease being sure to get under, on top and around everything.
