To start they are going to play with a dual band radio, receiving on VHF and relaying on UHF. The ultimate plan will be to have a voter (LDG RVS-8 most likely) The question I have is this. Is there a good, inexpensive UHF radio (like a Moxy, or Maxar, etc.) that is easy to interface to a voter, cheap with channel elements or crystals, doesn't take a rocket scientist to move to the ham bands, with a PL deck that will strip the PL tone off the link audio ... that someone has experimented with and is currently using with good results?
<---I have a Spectra Tac receiver (that's a Micor receiver minus the audio/squelch board) mid split UHF (450-470) which will tune right down to the ham band no sweat. It also has the squelch gate card and channel element installed, so all you need do is supply power, take the disc. audio and output of the squelch gate and voila! Voting receiver.
