Robert;
Somthing to consider. I have a MstrII mobile converted and a few
weeks ago it had a problem of sometimes having noise on the reciever
(weak signal), sometimes only a very strong signal could get in, and
sometimes it worked perfectly. All TX signals remained the same. I
found that pin 1 on J903(I think??), the F1 (crystal) pin was not
always making gud contact. Once this problem was repaired all is back
to gud working order.
Make sure all pins on all boards are making a gud connection. Use a
tuning tool and touch all pins, listen and watch to see if there may
be something not making gud contact. Again check all pins especially
the ones passing any kind of audio signal or voltage.

Something to consider,
