That is one point that I was trying to make. It is difficult if not
impossiable to tell if a transmitter is FM or PM while receiving a signal
over the air. The only way to tell is to have access to the exciter circuit
or atleast a schematic of the transmitter. The audio is fed into the
modulator in such a way as the results are the same if done correctly. Due
to the way the circuit components vary the results in the real world may be
differant.
