I don't think that matters as long as the sig. gen. output is pure 50 + j0 
ohms.  If it wasn't, the reactive termination would tune into the sig. gen. 
but if the sig. gen. is 50 ohms the loss through the T should be fairly 
flat.  As long as you have that loss well characterized in a 50 ohm system, 
I'm your uncle.
