I am in the same boat .. I have a 4 bay going up but don't want the
hard line all the way up ..
mine is 7/8 hardline .. might use 1/2 hardline .. or something smaller
but I will not run the 7/8 all the way up the mast
did that with 1/2 to the ant .. then when it had to come down for
service .. the person taking down the ant BROKE the 1/2 haedline
.. so I HAD to but a jumer on the old ant...

if you need a chunk and cant find down you way let me know I am
sure I can cut you a chuck of low loss cable I have here

all the repeaters I know of use a short jumber from hard line to the
ant .. even at the cell sites I have been at use jumber
