The early Motorola Sensicon 'G' Receivers with factory Private Line installed didn't have the carrier squelch circuitry installed.
If you are familiar with the 'G' PL receiver, the added carrier squelch circuitry including tube was installed on the bracket that was mounted above the audio section. The AutoMute system was usually installed on the Mocom-10 radios. Motorola also had tone burst on the tubed equipment as well as the Motrac Line as an option.
