Jeff, I have not used the G6 UHF only antenna but have heard they work OK.  The dual band G6/270 is a piece of junk. If you need a UHF repeater antenna and can't afford a DB products, I have had good luck  Antenex fiberglass unit. I have had the 5 db version at 1940 feet for several years with no problem.
