My (even older) DR570T has a decoder that works great, which actually allows 
practical use of the mobile repeat function. You can buy these radios pretty 
cheap now on the used market, usually with burned-out display lamps, and they 
have nice audio.

The bad news...on low power they still draw 4 amps putting out 5 watts, and 
still run hot in continuous duty.

  This applies to the newer models, but the DR-605's (optional) decoder 
  doesn't have this problem.
