Oh my... you mean someone is still trying to use one of the 
early solid state GE Radios..?  

Circa 1985 I received a number of the mentioned GE Radios as 
part of a trade in toward a new radio fleet purchase.  Out of 
the 6 radios I received, 5 had problematic pa sections that 
required critical adjustment... else they were horrible spur 
generators and even oscillators of their own original design. 

>From more than one source I heard the PA Sections of the early 
GE Radios were "prone to sing" so the radios went away in favor 
of the trusty Master Pro models (worked like a charm every time). 

Motorola has the similar nightmare pa issues with some of their 
early varactor tripler designs... if they were out of alignment 
it was a very careful road (steps) to return them to proper 
operation. 

Yep, we should note the differences between the TPL 
(affectionately known as the "Toilet Paper Line") Amplifiers and 
the GE TPL Radios.
