Rob, Sweep gen is one that automatically scans its band of frequencies. Often there is a "start" pulse to allow one to sync to say a scope with detector so the freq response of a unit under test can be seen.
A tracking gen is same, but often is included in a scope for above same purpose. They can be useful in tuning a duplexer in that one can see the complete performance, notch vs pass, without having to rock back and forth between the 2 freqs of interest as would be the case with a simple sig gen. 73, ron, n9ee/r >From: ks4ec <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Date: 2008/03/13 Thu PM 06:55:06 CDT >To: [email protected] >Subject: [Repeater-Builder] R2001 Service monitor question > >Sorry if this is a little off topic. > >I have located what appears to be a Motorola R2001 service monitor, >although there is no model number sticker on it. > >I identified it by the pics on the net. > >Does anyone know what the difference between the A-B-C and D versions >is. and can you tell by looking at it. > >Also everything I see on the net says this has a sweep generator, some >say this is used for tuning duplexors. > >I have heard of both a sweep generator and a tracking generator.
