Yeah, EIA or F flanges are an option, but a cheaper alternative would be DIN connectors.
They are very common (low price point) as they are very common in the Cell/PCS world these days. Probably about the same price as "N" connectors. The return loss through a DIN connector splice is comparable to a L45Z (Z-splice), and MUCH easier to put together (Z-splices are a pain).
