Yes, the Motorbo radios can operate simplex on both Analog & Digital. Text messaging, non-intrusive radio checks, call logs, call alerts etc . . all work simplex as well. Just remember, the repeater handles the two time slots (two virtual voice channels at the same time), when the repeater goes down and your forced to run simplex, and you choose to run digital voice and or text messaging, you now can only run a single QSO on that frequency. Your two time slots (virtual channels) go away.
