Not to sound too much like a smart ass here, but over-engineering was what got us here in the first place (soft power switch). Adding ANOTHER microcontroller to defeat the microcontroller already inside, seems like Microsoft-style engineering. :-) Oh well. Just had to have a mini-rant there. Sorry it's off-topic.
