Go to your local CB shop and ask them for a broken whip (the ones with the copper wire wrapped around the fiberglass rod). Easy to trim with a grinder or dremel tool. Stay away from the Francis antennas as the wire is embedded into the rod. Most are 1/4" to 3/8" in diameter.
